My husband introduced Papoulis to me a couple weeks ago and I must say I was very impressed. That was my first time ever trying a gyro. I got gyro on white and a side of fries. The portions are very nice and you can rest assured you will not leave hungry. Prices are very reasonable for the quality of food. I really enjoy the cucumber sauce they have for your gyro. The fries are alright. I prefer a crunchier fry and these were very limp. Will probably try a different side next time.

Love Papouli's Zeus gyro. I work nearby and have to say it is the best and I have been going here for going on 2-3 years.

I'm not sure how I could have lived in the San Antonio area for several years and never eaten at Papouli's. A mistake I was fortunately able to correct today. A friend recommended the Papouli's Tapas (Hummus sampler) which comes with a choice of 3 of their 6 different flavors of hummus and spreads. I chose the Traditional Hummus and the Jalapeno Fire Hummus which were both excellent, as well as the Basil Infused Feta spread which was spectacular. I couldn't tell a lot of difference between the regular and jalapeno versions of the hummus, but my friend thought the jalapeno hummus was very spicy, so I guess your experience will depend on your particular taste. I was a little leery of the otherworldly green hue of the Basil Hummus, but one bite cleared up any hesitation I was experiencing. Truly a highlight. For my main course I chose a traditional Gyro sandwich with lamb gyro meat. The "Chicago style" white pita for both the sandwich and the Hummus sampler was extremely soft and probably the best I've ever had. I'm told the wheat pita isn't nearly as delicious, but I suppose that's generally true of any white/wheat comparison. The gyro sandwich comes with a choice of side and I selected the homemade fresh cut french fries that rivaled most any great burger restaurant I've visited. All the other foods, salads, even burgers I saw on other tables looked excellent as well. Papouli's definitely exceeded my expectations and I'll certainly plan a return trip in the near future.

Solid greek food at reasonable prices. . What more do you need? I recommend the traditional platter so as to try a variety of meats. The gyro and chicken are both quite good and the salad was nice. Add on the rice and the pita and you have a great meal for 11.99. My only real complaint is that at lunch it took way longer than it needed to, however, all in all, a good experience.

We have been regulars here for the past years and have always brought families too. We love the taste of the food and the staff friendliness as always. HOWEVER, when we were in for dinner half way through my food, there was a piece of hair stuck in the middle of the yogurt sauce. Would have been 1 star for having to find a hair in the plate but I guess 3 star for the kitchen remaking my dish and chef brought it out himself. We most likely won't go back for a while. Maybe kitchen staffs should wear hair nets when cooking?...just a suggestion.

I eat here regularly and never have had a bad meal. Great service in spite of being right smack in the lunch rush hour. Great food, so delish and flavorful. Be sure to get your preferred customer card for points. I love the Med Salad w/Chicken skewer (formerly diet salad) - fricking super good! Hummus is very good as well as pita bread. And, you'd be remiss to not eat the couscous.

This is one of my favorite Greek restaurants in San Antonio. I always get the large gyro with fries. The gyro is packed full of goodness and is reasonably priced. The staff is friendly and food arrives promptly. I recommend this place and will return.

Ordered Chicken burger, and falafel sandwich. Chicken was cooked to perfection, and I highly recommend to try it. Could have given 5stars but Fry's were disappointing, other than than that its an excellent place to dine.

Oh so good! I got the Greco-Roman Pita and it was fantastic! My meat of choice was shrimp. It also came with melted Mozzarella cheese, grilled onions, tomatoes, salonica peppers, and tzatziki sauce. The portion was great for lunch. The shrimp was perfectly seasoned and juicey. The contrast of the of the warm shrimp and pita with the cool and fresh tomatoes was amazing! I also got the red pepper humus. The pita was very good with it! I'm definitely coming back...

Just want to say that this place more than sucks if you want to order take out... I ordered for my team 10 ORDERS!!! I was told it would be ready in 20 minutes so when I arrived I noticed a super long line... I asked the man at the register where I can pay for to go orders especially since I saw my order sitting on the counter and before I can finish my question, he cut me off and said "UH WE'RE ONLY WORKING OFF OF ONE REGISTER RIGHT NOW" And pointed to the end of the line. I was a littler annoyed by this BUT went and waited for about 10 minutes when I saw another lady come in walk around everyone in line and ask about her to-go order. The same guy who told me to wait at the back of the LONG line took her payment and released her order. Did I mention it was just one plate? Well that's all I needed to get out of line walk to the front and ask him why he did that for her and not for me... I told him to keep the order that we didn't want it anymore... Food is ok but with service like that?, you can keep it.

Came here for lunch and it's good Greek food. Huge portions and not too expensive. Spent $15 on chicken/shrimp skewers with a Greek salad and orzo and an iced tea. Spanakopita and falafel were very good as well.

This has always been my go-to place! The employees are extremely friendly and helpful! The food is fresh, light, delicious, and filling. I normally get a gyro with fresh vegetable pita which comes with a side. The atmosphere is very pleasant and laid-back. The restaurant is clean. After a nice meal, a walk around the Quarry is always nice. There's is also a student discount!

Yum Yum Yum!!! I highly recommend no matter what time of day you go. The food is always so fresh! Nobody does it better. (But beware. .the calamata olives have pits and there is no warning from the staff, or on the menu).

  • Andria J.

Awwww come on Papoulis!!! Is Papou working the line? Probably not because if so he would have a salad w/gyro meat out well before 20 mins! 7:30pm on a Sunday and a salad can't be thrown together faster than this? Came by for lunch 2weeks ago and waited 25 mins for 2 gyros----good food, just don't plan on getting it before your next birthday.

Papouli's always serves piping hot gyros, burgers and fries and ice cold, crisp salads smothered in their herby Greek dressing. We can always expect a good meal here. I typically get gyros - both the traditional and the garden pita are delicious. My husband enjoys the traditional plates with both chicken and gyro meat and my mother-in-law always orders the lemoni chicken. I recently strayed from my usual and ordered the lamb burger and it was FANTASTIC. It will be a hard choice between the burger and a gyro on the next visit. The dolmas appatizer is served cool and always fresh and the hummus is good too.

Excellent food! Great prices. Always a treat when we go, for a date. The atmosphere is good, considering it is in a strip. I usually get the Gyro salad and never leave hungry.

  • Theresa H.

Papouli's is so tasty that I'm salivating a little bit just thinking about it. The gyros are delicious, the orzo is awesome, the pita is squishy, warm and soft and their tzatziki sauce is really, really, REALLY good. especially on the thick, fresh cut fries. They have a limited wine and beer selection but it's good enough for everyone to find something. The portions are generous and the prices are reasonable for the quality of food that they are dishing out.

  • Liza M.

I absolutely love the food here. I normally order the Traditional Plate. Everything on it is amazing. I always change up the meat but never stray from the shrimp. The Nisi Orzo is delicious too. I also love the service. Everyone is always friendly and makes sure you have everything you need, even when you order to go. I highly recommend Papoulis to all my friends and family!

I went here for the first time today for lunch with my coworkers. It was pretty crowded but we were able to place our orders and find a table right away. I ordered the Petite Traditional Pita Sandwich with Chicken (grilled chicken with tomato, onions and tzatziki on pita bread) and a Greek side salad. I was amazed by the portions! The salad was very reasonable for the additional $2.49 charge and the pita was very filling for being "petite". The salad was so refreshing - romaine lettuce, kalamata olives, tomato and feta cheese with Greek dressing! Yum! My pita sandwich was hot and the chicken was well-cooked and not dry at all! I would have liked the tzatziki to have a little more flavor. I did try my coworker's gyro and that was delicious! I will definitely have to order that next time!

Ordered food for take out. The meals were packed nicely but didn't come with eating utensils or napkins. The food was decent. Each meal came with a side of salad and that was delicious. I love the pita bread (wheat and the regular kind).

When I get tired of eating at Pashas on a regular basis or looking for Greek "fast food" I come here. I love their Greek salad and lentil soup. Both are items I can't get at Pashas. Kinda higher prices than typical fast food but the quality of their ingredients is usually pretty high and I don't feel food guilt after eating.

This place is awesome, every time. Quality is consistent. I recommend the lamb burger or the pita burger..... both are to die for. Clean, fairly priced, friendly and competent staff... best quick Greek joint in town.

  • Brent L.

The gyros are totally AWESOME here! Order the combo and you get a side with it for a total of about $7. The only other advice I would have would be to not get the fries - they are fresh cut but they are soggy when you get them.

  • Melissa S.

Best Greek food in town. When I come here I always order the Meditteranean Diet salad with one skewer of chicken and one skewer of beef or lamb depending on my mood. The chicken is consistently tender and perfectly seasoned. The beef and lamb is always perfectly seasoned, but don't buy it when they ask you if "medium rare" is ok - it won't be medium rare, the most it has ever been was medium. I keep forgetting to say "please undercook my meat!" Before GF I was addicted to their garden pita with chicken. OMG I ate every bite, every time. They have recently made small subtle changes that really add to the experience - offering sliced cucumbers in place of their pita bread was a nice touch for me. The management there is friendly and on the floor making sure all is well - not often seen at a lot of chain lunch restaurants. You know it's good when you get cravings for their food at midnight. Just sayin'...

This place was good the first couple times I went there but... went there for lunch yesterday just before the lunch crowd hit and it was horrible. The gyro was STONE COLD. Didn't have time to complain. Asked for hummus, which they didn't give me until I asked for it again when they brought my food. Don't think I'll be back anytime soon.

In general I find the food here quite good, my wife and I went today and both got lamb kebab and it was mostly gristle that we paid extra for. Is recommend their gyro meat if you go there

#AllergenInfo - Soy, Nuts: Their fry oil contains soy, as does their rice, and pita bread. Their lamb is marinated with something that contains soy, and their gyro meat has soy also. However, their chicken and steak are soy safe, along with the other dishes I had. Some of their dishes contain pine nuts. It should be noted that their grill and griddle are shared with their various meats, so there is the possibility of cross contamination. I come in on a Saturday afternoon at about 2:30. A gentleman, that I think was the manager was very eager to help me find items on their menu there were safe for me to eat. Based on the various things he said, it sounded like he has worked with other patrons that had allergies, and when he wasn't sure about a menu item, he would go and check the ingredients for me. I started with the Caprese Salad. It was nicely seasoned, the flavors were well balanced, and it had a beautiful presentation. The Greek salad was fairly standard, using iceberg lettuce and radicchio, but the feta was a little saltier than I prefer. It came with one Greek pepper, and two olives, which were good, and they did have pits just as they warned about on their posted signs. My rating on the salad might go up if the offered the option of adding more olives and peppers. :-) Since their rice wasn't safe, I ordered some of their Moroccan Pine Nut Cous Cous. This was *surprisingly* good, with lots of unexpected flavor, and a slight sweetness. I later mixed it with a little of their tzatziki, and it was even better! Served on top of that was my order of Chicken and Steak skewers, with Basil Infused Feta and Tzatziki sauces in cups at the side. The chicken wasn't dry, and it had a wonderful amount of grill charring that added nice flavors from the grill. I think it paired slightly better with the Basil Infused Feta than the tzatziki . The steak had a slight amount of pink in the center, was good, and paired better with the tzatziki, but I think the chicken was had more flavor and character. Beyond that, the steak was the only thing I had in my meal that I thought needed any extra seasoning. In this case, salt. For dessert I had their Baklava Sunday, which is a scoop of Blue Bell ice cream with their shredded baklava sprinkled on top and around it. The baklava made it little chewy, but it had lots of flavor. The amount of cinnamon almost made it taste like I was having a scoop of cinnamon ice cream, or perhaps a slice of pecan pie with a scoop of ice cream on top. It made for a wonderful ending to my late lunch on a hot summer day. I enjoyed everything I ate here, with the cous cous being the unexpected and memorable highlight. It was so delicious that I'd be happy to have it as my main dish, and I'm still thinking about it days later. It was worth the visit, and I'll be back.

I moved to SA two months ago from NY and this is the best Greek food I've found in town. I had the steak and chicken kebobs, both were amazing and juicy. The pita was soft and tasty and the salad was fresh and perfect with great feta cheese. And don't miss the tzatziki it's out of this world. You will not be disappointed. I know I'll be going back...

Tex Mex - No Greek food far away from the sea its self.... While in Texas you figure you want Tex-Mex right... wrong... we came across this little Greek gem and could not turn away. First off when you walk in you order at the counter and the try to find a table (warning this place gets packed from 12-1) so go early or go late. Small place but big menu... sad for me i couldnt get past the Falafel pita sandwich. 4 huge pcs of falafel wrapped in a pita bread with hummas, lettuce, tomato, and either ranch or tzatika sauce. Very yummy, very flavorful food. No one had any bad food. I have also had the grape leaves, 3 out 5... yummy just a little on the chewy side, but still good. I would def go back, in fact I have gone back many times lol! So enjoy and pass the baba ghounsh!

This is my favorite restaurant in the entire world. The chicken kabobs are to die for - I tried the chicken kabobs at Fadi's, Zikiki's in Dallas and they don't even qualify as food compared to the incredible, juicy, succulent huge chicken pieces marinated and grilled at Papouli's. If I lived in SA I would eat here every single day, the food is absolutely healthy and amazing. Every time I come into town and visit, I beg my friends t take me here. Love It!

Bad customer service. I went during sunday for lucnh with my wife and kids and they forgot to put in my order. It was busy so I waited thirty before checking. They didn't even appologize. When they finally brought out the order it was wrong. Food is excellent when they finally git it right but they could have at least shown some sympathy.

Oh Papouli's. This is Greek food done right. I've had their delicious gyros and Mediterranean diet salad (you choose chicken or lamb) countless times and I've never been disappointed. Also, their tzaziki (cucumber) sauce is on point. They also have a pretty neat member rewards program, I love the extra perks!

I am a frequent diner at Papouli's, so I immediately noticed that the chicken serving on top of my Mediterranean diet salad was a bit on the skimpy side. The same went for my friend's plate. I asked the manager, and he was very responsive; he came over to look at my plate, apologized, and said he would get me more chicken. A few seconds later, he brought me over 1 piece. One. From getting a whole skewer of delicious, piping hot chicken, to getting 4 teensy pieces of luke-warm chicken makes me question whether I'll return. I'll try the Papouli's near my house and see if that one's any better. The bus boy also was hovering over my friend's table trying to collect our plates when we weren't even finished eating.

As I read the menu posted to the wall, running through my mind was the phrase "O.M.G., I want that; and I want that; I want that and I want that." Hummus, gyros, avgolemeno soup, spanikopita, tyropita, dolmas... I used to date a Greek with lots of Greek relatives, including his greek Yia Yia who cooked the real shiz-net, so I would know if the food is good and I want it all!!! Yet, my readers, for some inexplicable reason, I settled for the Chicken Salad Espana. "Espana" ? WTF was I thinking? It was okay, but I definitely had orderer's remorse. We did have a appetizer of hummus, which was hummylicious, but I wish I had gone for the sampler platter to get my Greek food groove on. Alas, I shall be back, you oddly shaped restaurant with decor galore.

  • Ann H.

got their giant 2-3 person platter to-go with gyro and some skewers. nothing to write home about but it was pretty filling and a good amount of food! came with salad and some apps like spanikopita and grape leaf-wrapped things. JERUSALEM GRILL is wayy better than papouli's but if it's monday and you're craving greek, this ain't bad.

I love this place! A little slow during the lunch rush, but worth the wait. I usually get the Greco Roman Pita Sandwich with gryro meat. Ask for the meat to be extra toasted...it takes the sandwich to a different level. The fresh cut fries are some of the best you can get. Not in the mood for a sandwich? Try one of their platters or salads. I like to eat with my hands so usually avoid plated meals, but here I'll make an exception. Their tzatziki is a little bland, but can be jazzed up with a some cayenne pepper. The only thing I've ever been disappointed with is their hummus.

    (3)
  • Lynette R.

Pretty good. Definitely slow during lunch hours. Next time I'll call ahead. The gyros are tasty, if a little heavy on the onions, but no biggie. I wish there was more tzazkiki sauce in them too. That stuff's delish! Portions are healthy for the price. It's no Mina and Dimi's but it's a nice change-up to the Tex-Mex and burger lunch options in the area.

Papoulis's Feast: Sirloin steak, chicken, lamb skewers and gyro, topped with onions and tomatoes, tossed Greek salad with Feta cheese and vinaigrette dressing, served with pitas and 4 different kinds of dipping sauce: enough to feed 2- 3 people and all for $24.99. I get hungry just thinking about it! Papouli's Greek Grill has become one of my favorite restaurants. Their food is healthy and tasty, and always leaves me feeling full and content. The first time I came to Papouli's, I was a little overwhelmed with all the options. They have everything from basic gyros to eggplant casserole and several unpronounceable soups. My favorite meal of all time, however, has got to be Papouli's Feast, which easily feeds a friend and me. The service is usually pretty friendly, and on multiple occasions, I have had staff come over to ask if I have any questions about the menu. Don't be afraid of not knowing what to order; the staff will be more than happy to explain. Papouli's is the type of place where you pick the meal you would like to order and then they call your name when it is ready, typically within less than 10 minutes. They have a cute, Tuscany-inspired setting and an outdoor patio area as well. I enjoy eating outside at Papouli's because, even though they aren't that far off a busy road, there is a large grassy area with Oak trees between you and the traffic. I would recommend Papouli's to anyone. It is definitely in my top 5 for healthy, yet filling, places to eat.

What an epic failure. This place though it had great service and a clean interior left much to be desired in the food department. I got a standard chicken gyro and I couldn't be more disappointed. I had high hopes, but after my first bite, I was over it. The chicken was bland and not seasoned enough. The pita looked like it came off a shelf in the supermarket. I really don't think they make their own bread here. The cucumber sauce was hard and had a weird consistency - it was almost cream cheese like. There were way too many onions and it was just generally insulting. Did they really think they could pass this off as a gyro? Disgusting! This is fake Greek food. It absolutely lacks flavor and depth and they can be as nice to me as they want to be, but they are NOT fooling anybody with that horrible food. If you're looking for delicious Greek food, head on over to Pasha for pitas baked in house and food with great flavors! Definitely DO NOT GO HERE! It's the WORST!

Came here with a friend for lunch, about a month ago. Ordered the Traditional Gyro and it was good, no complaints. Tasted like a Gyro should, wasn't a fan of the fries though..skin on and skinny. I like my fries McDonald's style. That was my only disappointment. My friend had never had Greek Food before so opted for one of the salads and it was huge, I don't think she was able to make a visible dent in it. No reason not to go back as far as I can tell.

Want some good food? Try Papouli's Greek... your tastebuds will think you're a 5 star food geek! The pita is yummy, and delish is the hummus... we cleaned up our plate, tho the calories won't become us. The gyro, the chicken, the steak were a delight.... I think I dreamed of it all through the night. Did I mention the appetizer plate of half size? You'll be glad you got it...just a word to the wise. You can stop off here for a Greek dinner so fine.... Papouli's is the place where the cool cats dine!

I am really saddened to have to report the experience that I just had from Papouli's. Can I just say that I certainly am more understanding than a lot of people when something goes wrong because things happen, but at Papouli's today, it was a number of things. First off, let me try and explain just how much I was looking forward to some good Greek food today. I was, I really, really was. The service here is slow as molasses and each one of the people who worked there seemed a little bit worse than the last. I got the falafel with no tomatoes (because sometimes, I just don't want tomato). There were tomatoes not only in this falafel, or on this falafel. They were MUSHED into the pita bread, making is soggy and just plain gross. The falafel itself was dry on the inside, flavorless and somehow soggy on the outside. I'm not even sure how they accomplished this much disaster in one sandwich, but I promise, it happened. I can't say anything good about this meal today. The fries were completely soggy and even the feta I had them sprinkle over them didn't resurrect them! How can that happen? I have no clue. The Tzatziki was way too thick and although the flavor wasn't spot on, it made the pita somewhat easier to enjoy (force myself to eat due to hunger and already having spent the money) and that's not saying a ton because I couldn't even force myself to eat half of it. I'm really disappointed here and 1 star seems totally harsh, but I can assure you that had you had my sandwich today, along with the service, you'd feel the same. I feel a longing for that 7.00 that was spent earlier. Also, I am still hungry. No Bueno. I feel cheated and once again, STILL HUNGRY. This was the kind of experience that makes me want to forget about Greek food for a while and that makes me sad. I can say that Papouli's had better be glad that it's Greek Grandma isn't anywhere close by or else they would be in trouble!

"...and do you think that by saving poor Catherine you can finally stop those lambs from screaming?" Hell no! Season that bad boy up and slap him on some pita bread with grilled onions, red ripe tomato and that garlicky tzatziki cause I got a hankering for some Gyro action, yo! (I apologize for stooping to the vernacular, but there it is.) I have sworn my eternal allegiance to Mina and Dimi's when it comes to Greek food in San Antonio but unfortunately I am rarely out by Lackland so when the need arises we look elsewhere for it. Papouli's is a nice fix with all of the fresh flavors and choices one would expect from a Greek joint. Good seasoned lamb, nice tangy feta, soft pillowy buttered pita and some really excellent creamy hummna hummuna hummus. I think the time has come for the Gyro sandwich to go mainstream and replace some of the less interesting burger choices lining the highways and bi-ways of our burgeoning city. It's Greek to Me, Papouli's, Mina and Dimi's, Demo's, if you haven't tried them then do yourself a favor and do so. If you're a little intimidated with the menu then just order a Gyro with fries to start and go to town, the rest will come later. "...fly away now little Starling. Fly, fly, fly."

I've reviewed the Papouli's in the Quarry previously. Everything I wrote about the food, the decor & the location holds true for their restaurant on Huebner as well. What this review is about is their customer service. First I love that they are on Twitter & are actively engaged with their followers. More importantly though I want to write about our experience tonight. After placing our order we sat down and waited for our name to called... And we waited... And waited... And waited some more. After awhile I went to see where the order was. After a quick investigation it was determined that our order had been lost. They apologized profusely and got right to getting our food prepared. In no time it was brought to the table with another round of apologies. I'm not a pissy customer. I understand that things happen. I'll give folks the room to fix things and then make my judgements from there. The staff at the Huebner location was great in this regard. Before we left they gave me a $10 gift card for my next visit. Not needed, but much appreciated.

I have eaten at other papoulis (forum and quarry) and this one was not as good. The salad was dry and the pita bread was a little burnt. However, the meat and rice was good.

Zorba Says Opa!! Okay, so maybe Zorba didn't say that. But if he ate at Papouli's, he might. This place adds a nice food choice to this area than the usual Chili's or other place that are found every mile or so. The Zeus Gyros are huge and enough for two people to share. Portions are generous and the Tzatziki sauce is awesome. The Hummus does not disappoint and the lamb kabobs are very tender. I wouldn't say this is best Greek food in town, but for the food and price, it should is not something to pass on. The place is BYOO (bring your own Ouzo).

Gyros: TO DIE FOR. No, I'm sorry if my aunts back in Greece will explode and beat me with a wooden spoon for wanting gyros prepared in a fast food chain. I have to hand it to these people- they prepare quality Greek food! Do not judge them based on the fact that they are just a chain. Take my advice, get a gyro and savor for yourself. I'll take the beating (:

Tasty gyros that satisfy my belly? Definitely yes. I will always prefer Demos' for greek but I can be quite content here. I have eaten at both the Quarry Market location and Huebner but I think that the Huebner location is my favorite. I didn't have a problem with slow service. I didn't have a long wait at all. Maybe the management/staff is different now? The hummus is great as is the pita. I order the traditional gyro in small. The fries are just ok; nothing to write home about. The tzatziki sauce is good as well. All in all, two thumbs up for Papouli's.

I had the Traditional Pita Sandwich - Gyro style, petite size. The meat was great, the size of the sandwich was excellent (I eat small portions every two hours, so was very pleased to find "my size"), and the veggies were fresh. I am used to a less thick tzatziki sauce, however this was still delicious. The fries... mmm handcut and thin, so there were a bunch of crispy ones... my favorite!!! Next time I will be back for the Baklava :)

This restaurant is consistently good and has many options. I really like their hummus, pitas, kabobs, chicken lemoni, and couscous. They are also great about letting you order from the kids menu if you want a smaller portion. Their Greek salad leaves something in be desired, but there are many other options. They do get pretty busy at lunch, so calling in your order ahead of time can be a big time saver.

If you're looking for some good greek food, this may be your place. That is... if your looking for the fast food version of the greek food. The food reminded me of the stuff that is served in the food court at the mall. Filling, but lacking real favor. The place was clean and the portions were better than average. So, I will go back.

Food is pretty decent. I'd agree with Travis in that the food is pretty much on the same level as Demo's. Nothing great, but it' nothing awful. Yeah, these guys can be slow, but it's the same as with Demo's.

Papouli's brings it with a delicious salad dressing that makes you want to smack the table and yell "Opa!" From there, I recommend the pitas and tzatziki dipping sauce. It's just the right level of creaminess mixed with a delicious cucumber goodness. If you skip the lamb, gyro CRAZY - it's delicious! Guess what else? Papouli's knows how to cook one of the most delicious hamburgers in the city. Seriously, I couldn't believe how amazing it is. I'm sure everything else is tasty as well, but the gyro and burgers are so delicious, I don't even bother trying anything else. The Papouli's staff is also really well trained to make sure you're well cared for and you enjoy a great experience. It's easy to recommend heading to Papouli's.

The food was excellent and tasted fresh! I recommend the Homemade Pastichio Casserole! The meat that is inside it has a unique sweet spice that is superb! Don't leave with out trying the Spanikoptia! Try this spinich wrapped in a flaky crust with a splash of lemon. The Egyptian Pyramid mouse hit the spot with its light fluffy texture and sweet chocolate goodness! It has a white surprise inside it! It was delicious and not overwhelming. The customer service was over the top and the atmosphere was warm, cozy, and romantic. The after dinner mints tasty. Check it out...you won't be disappointed!

I hadn't been to a Papouli's in some time and I can't figure out why because this place is awesome! Their gyros are freaking amazing. The weekend I had gone to Demo's and Papouli's blows that place out of the water. Everything about it just had way more flavor than the other visit to Demo's. If you aren't a big fan of fries you can sub them for some pasta salad or a Greek salad. I went with the Grecko Roman Gyro and it made me weak in the knees as I was eating it because it was that good. Try this place!

I am a huge fan of Greek food and an even bigger fan of Papouli's Greek Grill!! It can be a little pricey but well worth it if your looking for a nice change of pace than the usual places. The service is always great with an enthusiastic staff. My favorite is the gyro. Granted it's a common choice but it combines my two favorite things. A gyro and a Greek salad! Can't go wrong here my friends! The Zeus gyro will cure what ails you!!

Good place for a quick weekday lunch. Get there early though! I had the mediterranean salad with chicken which was great! LOVE the pita bread that comes with it! The Mango tea isn't amazing.

I crave Papouli's constantly. I always get the Mediterranean Salad with the gyro meat. The salad is delicious and always fresh. The pita bread is always soft and warm. The tzatziki is always thick and garlic-y. The gyro meat can be on the greasy side at times, but the vinegar from the salad dressing cuts the fat nicely. Delicious, consistently great Greek!

Had the gyro pita sandwich and it wasn't that good. The meat was good and the pita bread was soft and warm. But what set me off was the large raw pieces of white onion. I was thinking the onions would be cooked as the rest of the pita was warm. My boyfriend's pita had green tomatoes in it. The fries were super greasy and limp. It was like they were barely even cooked. French fries should be crispy and not soggy. It seems like the employees are just teenagers who don't care about the quality of the food. Most of all the place was really warm and the air conditioner didn't seem to be working. Would not return!

Thanks for a great lamb gyro- delicious. It was so big I couldn't finish it. My husband enjoyed his beef gyro as well. Wait time to get food was around 5 minutes so not bad but they weren't busy at the time either. I'm sure when busy it's a longer wait. Simple but good eats. If you go away hungry, it's your own fault.

O........R........D......E.......R..... ........U......P..... OMG...These guys are S-L-O-O-O-W..... It seemed like it took forever for them to call our name. It definately wasn't as good as DEMO's....but not bad either. They definately need to hire some people with a plan....to speed up the service. I will return...just not maybe during lunch.

Despite what the other reviewer said, i really like this place. The food is on par with Demo's but is a little bit cheaper. Demo's was also always crowded with Trinity kids (where i went to college) so if i ever felt like getting off campus and going to a place where i was sure not to see any kids from Trinity, this was one of my favorite spots. I'll let you in a little secret: their gyros are great, and in my experience there is no discernible difference between the three sizes so save yourself some cash and go with a small gyro with fries.

Papouli's is my favorite Greek restaurant in SA. The menu is varied and the prices are excellent. My standard lunch is the Traditional Pita with Giro, but you should also consider trying the Grilled Rosemary Lemoni Chicken, or just have a salad. Honestly, you can't go wrong with anything on their menu.

The first time we ate here, we weren't that impressed. The restaurant was cold, the food not that great. I don't know if they're doing something different, or if our initial experience was just a fluke, but this has become one of our favorites. The prices are decent (at least for the gyros, which is what I usually order) and the food is quite good.

Much better than Demo's. My wife is greek, and we spent a month last summer in Greece and the food reminded me of the food we ate while we were there. The chicken was great, very moist, very tender. Other places we have gone to the chicken has been very dry and you have to choke it down. The service was fast and very friendly. So far, the best greek food that I have eaten in San Antonio.

The tzatziki sauce here is awesome. I always order the garden pita with chicken and load it tzatziki. Delicious!!!

I love this place, esp. the Quarry location. For one thing, everyone there is SO nice and helpful. The food is really, really good - the meats are seasoned perfectly and the hummus and other spreads are to die for. I think the plates with the shishkebab type meats are the best. The only thing I would change is that I feel that the tzatziki sauce is too thick and a bit too garlicky. But I guess others really like it that way. I wish it was more creamy and more cucumber-y ;)
